The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board was formed in the year 1962 for the purpose of holding Common Entrance Examinations for admission to the Undergraduate Level Engineering Courses in the State of West Bengal. The endeavour of the Board has always been directed towards enhancement of transparency in conducting Common Entrance Examinations for various professional Undergraduate and Postgraduate level courses in the State through effective state-of-the-art technology. Online application and admission through e–Counselling is operational for the undergraduate level Engineering and Medical courses of the State.

Selection Procedure:

Candidates appearing in both Paper-I and Paper-II and who are awarded ranks will be eligible for admission in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy courses in all institutes. Candidates appearing in Paper-II only and who are awarded ranks will be eligible for admission only in Pharmacy courses (except in Jadavpur University)

Exam Pattern:

The examination consists of 3 categories. In Category 1 and 2, marking more than one answer option in the OMR sheet will be treated as an incorrect answer. 0.25 or 1/4th mark will be deducted for such cases.

In Category 3, more than 1 answer options may or may not be correct. The full marks will be awarded if the candidates mark all the right answers. In case of partially correct response without any incorrect marking, the following formula will be applicable – 2 x (no of correct response) / (total number of correct options).

No negative marks will be given for incorrect answers in Category 3.

PwD category candidates are entitled to 20 extra minutes for each paper.
