Bengaluru-Ernakulam express derails, 3 dead, 60 hurt: Three passengers were killed and over 60 injured, some of them critically, when the Bangalore-Ernakulam Inter City Express derailed near Anekal, about 45 km from Bengaluru. The train had left Bengaluru at 0615 hrs and derailed at 0735 hrs between Anekal Road and Hosur on Bangalore City-Salem Section, Railways said. The Karnataka government rushed several ambulances to the spot and launched rescue operations. The injured trapped in derailed bogies were being removed and rushed to hospitals in Bengaluru and nearby Hosur, sources said. While ambulances from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been rushed to the spot, officials are coordinating rescue operations, they said. A train to rescue the stranded passengers is on its way to the accident site from Tamil Nadu's Erode.
