Indian Premier League (IPL) Has Been Officially Suspended Till Further Notice

One of the world's Biggest Cricket Revenue earning league " Indian Premier League (IPL) " has been now officially suspended till further notice from the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI ). The IPL is supposed to start on March 29th, 2020 however after the outbreak of coronavirus in India, The BCCI has decided to postpone it till April 15 to come to a concrete decision.



 

Regarding IPL 2020 all the franchise owners were called for several meetings and discussed the possibility of playing IPL this year, almost all the franchise owners have agreed to postpone the league as it is important to save the lives of cricketers and fans because of the coronavirus. It is also believed that the league may be conducted in the year-end months of November and December after the world cup is conducted.

However, Today The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI ) has released a press release stating the league will be suspended till further notice, The press release which was released by Jay Shah who is the Honorary Secretary of
BCCI is as follows

Due to the evolving global health concerns regarding COVID-19 and lockdown measures implemented by the Government of India to contain the spread of the pandemic, the IPL Governing Council of the BCCI has decided that the IPL 2020 Season will be suspended till further notice.

The health and safety of the nation and everyone involved in our great sport remain our top priority and as such, the BCCI along with the Franchise Owners, Broadcaster, Sponsors and all the Stakeholders acknowledge that the IPL 2020 season will only commence when it is safe and appropriate to do so.

BCCI will continue to monitor and review the situation regarding a potential start date in close partnership with all of its stakeholders and will continue to take guidance from the Government of India, State Governments and other State Regulatory bodies.

By this press release, the news is out which means we may not have IPL this year , The season  is supposed to start on March 29th, 2020 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai with  Mumbai Indians playing Chennai Super Kings. The final is supposed to be played on May 24th, 2020.
