XOLO Chromebook, Nexian Air Launched by Google in India at Rs 12,999
Google announced the launch of two new, budget Chromebook notebooks in India,which priced at Rs 12,999 in partnership with Indian OEM Xolo and Nexian. These new affordable Chromebooks - Xolo Chromebook and Nexian Air Chromebook will be available on Snapdeal and Amazon India, respectively. Besides this, the company also announced the Asus Chromebook Flip, C201 and a model by Samsung which will be available in the coming months.
Commenting on the launch, Smita Hashim, Global Product Manager, Chrome OS said, “When we introduced Chromebooks 4 years ago, we wanted to build a laptop for the way people use computers today - always fast, easy to use and secure by default,"
Both the Chromebooks come with 16GB of internal storage and have 11.6″ (1366 x 768 pixels) IPS display which are powered by a 1.8 GHz Rockchip, ARM Mali-T764 GPU and has 3288 Quad-core processor based on ARM Cortex-A17 CPU. These also have 2GB DDR3 RAM and 16GB of internal storage with expansion slot.
"Superfast to boot up along with built in security and virus protection, Chromebooks help teachers and students get straight down to learning. The Google Apps provided help for Education which make it simple to create, learn and collaborate."
Google in a press note said, "With the Chromebook Management Console, administrators can set up and manage up to thousands of Chromebooks from a computer or phone. Plus, regular updates from Google indicates that Chromebooks will actually get better over time, reducing schools' maintenance and software costs."
Finally, the company has also focussed on the offline capabilities of Chrome OS, which is mainly just a web browser in the form of an operating system. The company also showed Android apps that work on Chrome OS.
The Xolo Chromebook will be available in the next few days on Snapdeal, while the Nexian Air Chromebook, featuring a rugged splashproof construction, is now available on Amazon.in.
